NGORA CEO Edward Chileka-Banda has applauded Good Neighbors International Malawi for supporting the government in the delivery of various services. Chileka-Banda said this after visiting several sites where Good Neighbors is implementing its projects.
“NGORA, is very impressed with the investment that Good Neighbors has made and continues to make in the country. Today we have observed a school feeding program, seen good structures for Community Day Secondary Schools, libraries and engaged with Village Loans and Savings Groups. This is commendable work,” he said.
He then asked communities to build on the support received from Good Neighbors in order to be self-sufficient.
“The community must build on this support to ensure that these initiatives are sustained. We must integrate sustainability and ownership from the beginning because the support will not be there forever,” he said
Chileka-Banda further requested NGOs to be transparent and compliant, stating that the Authority shall attach penalties for dishonesty.
Good Neighbors, Country Director, Gyo Jin Joo thanked NGORA for taking the time to visit their project sites and schools that the organization has constructed in Kasungu.
“Our work includes provision of individual sponsorship to kids. So we go to those communities where the kids reside and provide schools, hospitals, water and other projects like income generation, advocacy and livelihood.
She, applauded NGORA for visiting their project sites stating that the visit will enhance collaboration which will ensure that NGO work is aligned with government’s priorities.
