What we do

Our Duties, Functions, and Powers:

NGO Registration & Regulation

Register and regulate operations of NGOs in Malawi and maintain a register of all NGOs operating in Malawi

Data Sharing

Operate a public documentation centre where the public can freely access the NGO register and database as well as records and returns of NGOs

NGO Compliance

Monitor compliance of NGOs and ensure transparency and accountability in the sector

NGO Reports Review

Review implementation and financial reports submitted by NGOs to ensure transparency and accountability

Surveys

Commission surveys, enquiries and research

Complaints Handling

Receive, investigate and determine complaints against NGOs, disputes between NGOs or between NGOs and other persons

Mediation

Register and resolve through mediation or conciliation disputes between NGOs or between NGOs and other persons

Sanctions

Withhold, suspend or cancel registration of an NGO in the event of failure or refusal to comply with the NGO law
