The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee of Social and Community Affairs which is also responsible for NGO coordination, Hon. Savel Kafwafwa together with the CEO for NGORA Voice Mhone on Monday appreciated some of the sources of funding to Malawian NGOs in London.
One of the sites that they visited contains shops run by Oxfam with an aim to support the end of poverty in least developed countries. Oxfam is one of the influential, exemplary and accountable NGOs in Malawi.
The two, who are part of the delegation that traveled to the United Kingdom and includes the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Education, Science and Technology Committee, Hon. Brainax Kaise and Acting Director of Child Affairs, Justin Hamela were also hosted by Leslee Udwin the founder and CEO of Think Equal, a charity organisation specialising in Early Childhood Development (ECD).
Malawi is moving towards profiling, professionalising and regulating ECD services, and recognising the impact of Think Equal Globally, the delegation lobbied the organization to open its operations in Malawi as an International NGO. Lesley committed to open the operations by working through local partners in Malawi.
