NGORA continues to meet with NGOs in order to continue forging a close-range interface and share the latest information about the sector. The latest breakfast meeting took place at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe on Friday, June 9, 2023.
NGORA’s CEO Voice Mhone informed participants at the meeting that the Authority intends to keep the sector updated on developments affecting it hence the meetings.
Mhone then updated the meeting that the Authority is currently working towards empowering ADCs, waiting CONGOMA AGM to validate Regulations. He also encouraged the NGOs to sign MOUs with district councils.
“We are currently working with ADCs to ensure that they help you in your programmes. Currently NGOs are depending on volunteers to keep them going in the communities and we would like to see ADCs being vibrant to take up that role.
I would also like to urge your organisations to work with the district councils so as to ensure that the monitoring of NGO work at the district level is effective. This can be achieved through the signing of MOUs with the councils,” he said.
The National Planning Commission (NPC) also attended the meeting and made a presentation during the session. NPC said that it looks forward to working with NGOs in the implementation of Malawi 2063. NPC then requested interested NGOs to submit project reports through NGORA so that NPC can monitor them.
